Smith 6079 were formed in Manchester, England, in April 2005. The band spent the next 12 months months locked in their own recording studio putting together their debut album, called 'Therapy' - only venturing out for the occasional sold-out home-town gig. Before Long a few MP3s had been dispatched to a select group of high-ranking record company execs. Then, the phones started to ring off the hook. Ray Cooper (former President of Virgin Records USA and MD of Virgin Records UK) flew in from Los Angeles to see the band on a Wednesday night in Manchester and then offered them a management deal the following day. The band has 30 songs recorded and mastered and is currently seeking a UK record deal. They have recently been billed as "Manchester's best unsigned band" by the hugely popular Manchester After Dark website and named as 'The Ones To Watch' by the influential Fly Magazine. If you like your indie-rock hard, heavy, angry and bursting with attitude then Smith 6079 is the band you have been looking for. Chris Long, music reviewer for BBC Online said: "Meatier than Kasabian and more fulfilling than Death from Above 1979, Smith 6079 have kindled a musical fire which might just burn down the world".
